On September 21-23, Almaty will host a workshop on climate change as an actual theme for media.
The event will be attended by journalists and media workers from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
At the workshop, participants will exchange views on climate change, conduct practical exercises, hold a meeting with Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and discussion of its new report.
Countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia depend on agriculture. Droughts and floods, sharp jumps in temperature negatively affect productivity and, as a result, wellbeing of people and the economy as a whole.
The IPCC's new report reveals many opportunities for preventing catastrophic climate change in agriculture, recalling that the key problem must first be resolved – stop burning fossil fuels and switch to renewable energy.
