The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Said Rustamov has held talks with a member of the British Parliament from the Welsh Nationalist Party (Plaid Cymru), a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Uzbekistan Hywel Williams.
The parties discussed issues of strengthening the Uzbek-British inter-parliamentary dialogue, prospects for the development of trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian ties, including between the regions of Uzbekistan and Wales.
The British MP was informed in detail about the large-scale political and economic reforms in Uzbekistan, including in the development of parliamentarism and ensuring human rights, and the positive dynamics of Uzbek-British cooperation in various fields. The Uzbek side's interest in strengthening interregional cooperation with the United Kingdom was noted.
Hywel Williams highly appreciated the progressive dynamics of cooperation between the UK and Uzbekistan, especially in education.
Supporting the need for further development of inter-parliamentary relations, including through the organization of joint events and mutual visits, the deputy noted the possibility of establishing cooperation at the level of regional representative authorities. The politician also expressed readiness to assist in establishing contacts between the business community of Wales, including industrial trade and associations, with partner organizations from Uzbekistan.
