International Women’s Forum kicks off in Tashkent

The international forum “Women in STEM” has kicked off in Tashkent.

The event is organized by the Committee of Family and Women, the Center of Women Inventors, the Integral University (India), UNESCO, and the United Nations Development Programme in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology.

The purpose of this forum and the scientific conference “Women Innovators – 2024” is to show the special place of women in Uzbekistan and Central Asia working in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), to improve the mentor-student system.

This significant project also aims to identify and eliminate the barriers that women face in these areas. Discussions, workshops, masterclasses, and scientific presentations by female scientists of the region. The event aims to inspire and support a new generation of women scientists and engineers in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

The Women in STEM Festival is organized as part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science celebration.

Current issues related to increasing girls’ involvement in STEM and supporting scientific research in these areas will be discussed for three days.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zulaykho Mahkamova addressed the forum’s opening.
