Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Ecology and Environmental Protection Alisher Maksudov has met with UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska.

The initiatives and projects implemented by the committee in cooperation with the UNDP were discussed at the meeting.

It was noted that this year work will begin on the implementation of the project “Conservation and sustainable management of lakes, wetlands, and riparian corridors as pillars of a resilient and land degradation neutral Aral basin landscape supporting sustainable livelihoods”.

This project is designed for 2021-2025. Its total cost is $4 million. The funding will be provided by the Global Environment Facility.
