The Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with Tashkent State University of the Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi, organized the International Olympiad in the Uzbek Language and Literature.
In recent years, the prestige of the Uzbek language has been growing both in the country and internationally. It is widely used in society, and among foreign citizens there is a growing interest in its study.
60 universities and centers in various countries have established Uzbek language courses, as well as a system for providing these courses with manuals for their study, compiled by Uzbekistan professors and teachers.
The Decree of the President “On measures for further development of the Uzbek language and improvement of the language policy in the country” of October 20, 2021, contributes to the intensification of activities in this direction.
The Olympiad is held among undergraduate students – citizens of foreign countries (not Uzbeks by nationality), studying at universities in Uzbekistan and foreign countries.

It is gratifying that 45 people from 10 countries applied for participation in the Olympiad, which is planned to be held annually. Thus, students studying the Uzbek language in South Korea, Russia, Türkiye, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Japan became its participants.
The knowledge and skills of students are evaluated by a jury consisting of qualified, experienced specialists in the Uzbek language and literature. The jury also includes specialists in the Uzbek language from the United States, Sweden, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia.
The Tashkent State University of the Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi is responsible for holding the International Olympiad.
The International Olympiad in Uzbek Language and Literature will be held for two days.
