Observer mission headed by the executive director of Central Asia and Caucasus Research Institute (Japan) Tetsuji Tanaka, who arrived in our country to oversee the preparations and conduct of elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, visited Surkhandarya region.

708 polling stations have been created in the region and all of them equipped according to the requirements. They have rooms for mother and child, medical offices. The polling stations located in remote areas which are difficult of access, also provided with modern means of communication, computer and other technologies, literature and manuals on electoral legislation.

In preparation for the elections, special attention is given to raising the legal culture of the members of precinct election commissions, heads of relevant organizations, institutions and enterprises, as well as voters. Training seminars and discussions on a broad explanation of the legal framework of elections were held.

Meetings with the candidates for the President of Uzbekistan organized at a high level. Currently, meetings of voters continue with electioneering agents.

International observers visited polling stations in the city of Termez, saw the formation of voter lists, amenities created for them.

“We have seen that all conditions at the polling stations have been created in accordance with international standards,’’ says Tetsuji Tanaka. “It’s noteworthy that in each election centre organized fully equipped medical rooms, room for mother and child. The membership of precinct election commissions were formed from the most respected people that is an important factor in holding the elections of the President of Uzbekistan at a high level. I have visited Termez for the first time. It turned out that it is a beautiful city with modern facilities. I’m delighted with the abundance of markets, high spirit and confidence of citizens in the future. We are glad that our visit coincided with the Navruz celebrations, which have traditionally celebrated on a large scale. I sincerely congratulate the people of Uzbekistan on this wonderful holiday.”
