Currently, long-term observers of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Christian Oliver Hynek and Tsengel Erdenebat in Surkhandarya region are getting acquainted with the preparations for the upcoming October 27 elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local Councils.

The guests visited the regional election commission and inquired about its members’ activities and the conditions created in the press center.

The Chairman of the Commission, Zebuniso Alimardonova, informed international observers about the election management information system, the compilation of an electronic voter list, the procedure and norms for the formation of electoral districts and precincts, the organization and conduct of early elections, and the creation of facilities for the participation of persons with disabilities.

International observers also got acquainted with conditions created for the free and objective coverage of this important political campaign using the new possibilities of information-communication technologies.
