The opening ceremony of the international martial arts festival turned into a big holiday. The Istiqlol stadium of the regional center gathered participants of the festival, sports and art lovers. At the event, it was noted that the festival contributes to further strengthening friendship among nations. The World Martial Arts Union (WoMAU) expressed gratitude to the organizers for the high level of preparation for the festival.

Competitions of the international festival were held mainly in the children and youth sports school No. 2 of Margilan. The ceremony of awarding the winners of the festival took place in the Theatre and Concert Palace named after Islam Karimov.

The XVII meeting of the General Assembly of the World Martial Arts Union, held under the auspices of UNESCO, was attended by representatives of 26 member countries of the organization. Elections of four vice-presidents of the union were held. Representatives of the Philippines, Kenya, Indonesia and South Korea were elected to these posts. 

A workshop on “Martial arts and culture of the Silk Road” was also held within the framework of the festival. Information on the history of world martial arts, the role of the Silk Road in the cultural exchange and development of martial arts in the region, UNESCO’s activities and intangible cultural heritage was provided at the workshop.
