International Forum to kick off in Tashkent
11:33 / 2021-07-15

A High-Level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities” will kick off today in the city of Tashkent.

The initiative to strengthen regional connectivity was launched by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev as part of a new open foreign policy strategy.

The idea implies access to South Asia, which is historically closely linked with the region in economic, social and cultural-civilizational dimensions, by further deepening economic cooperation in Central Asia.

The international conference will become a political and expert platform for multilateral discussion of a model of mutually beneficial strategic ties between Central and South Asia in the transport and logistics, energy, trade, production, investment, technological, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The event will consist of an opening ceremony, one plenary and three breakout sessions and a final part. Representatives of over 40 countries and international organizations are expected to attend the event.

About 90 media representatives will arrive in Tashkent to cover the conference.
