Dushanbe hosted a meeting of the IV Board of Directors of film studios of the CIS countries and Georgia on cooperation in cinematography. Representatives of the leading film studios of the CIS countries and Georgia took part in the event.
Members of the Council unanimously decided to create an alliance “International Creative Union of CIS and Georgia Film Studios”.
Director-General of Belarusfilm, Vladimir Karachevsky, cited Uzbekistan as a positive example of cooperation, which in the first half of this year will present 4 films shot jointly with Russia, signed contracts for the production of two films with Belarusfilm (Uzbek, Kazbek), three films with Kazakhstan (Neighbors, Echelons go to the East, Kurkut-Ota), two films with Tajikistan (Jami and Navoi and Invisible Star).
Director-General of Tojikfilm Mahmadsaid Shokhiyon said that the new structure will have an exclusively creative and production focus.
“We are not a political organization and do not pursue political ideas. It is important for us to unite for the development of the film industry of our countries and the development of film markets, which can give a new impetus to national film schools and the development of the film industry in general”, he said.
Members of the organization agreed on the creation of a single golden collection of films from the CIS countries and Georgia, as well as dubbing into world languages. The issues of promotion and distribution of the best samples of film production of the studios of the countries-participants of the alliance in the world cinema space were also discussed.
At the meeting, the leadership of the alliance and members of the board were elected. By unanimous decision, the directors of film studios elected Firdavs Abdukhalikov, the Director-General of Uzbekistan Cinematography Agency, as Chairman of the International Creative Union of CIS and Georgia Film Studios. V. Karachevsky, the Director-General of Belarusfilm, was elected Deputy Chairman of the association for creative issues, and M. Shokhiyon, Director General of Tojikfilm, was elected Deputy Chairman for Economic Affairs.
