09:31 / 2024-03-30

The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Akbar Toshkulov, met with the head of the representative office of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Uzbekistan, Geoffrey Ijumba.

Mr. Toshkulov told the guests about the large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan to protect children’s rights and legitimate interests.

Mr. Geoffrey Ijumba said that he positively assesses the reforms being carried out in this direction. The UNICEF office is ready to provide technical assistance within the framework of its mandate, particularly for implementing the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy.

At the meeting, the parties, taking into account the positive cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNICEF and aiming to advance it to a new stage, signed a work plan for 2024-2025.

This document provides for several activities to develop mechanisms and implement strategies for children’s use of justice, protect children and youth from inflammatory ideas in modern information technologies, and increase their legal culture and consciousness.
