The renewed Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Labor Code has introduced new norms for regulating labor relations.

In particular, it is stipulated that forced labor and any form of child labor that threatens health, safety, morality, mental and physical development, including those that hinder education, are prohibited.

This was noted at the regular meeting of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor.

At the meeting, chaired by the Chairperson of the Commission Tanzila Narbayeva, the work carried out in the country to combat human trafficking and forced labor, the results achieved within the framework of international cooperation, and the upcoming tasks were discussed.

Specific tasks have been defined for the implementation of the Memorandum on the launch of the Better Work program, signed between the International Labour Organization and its tripartite partners, as well as the Action Plan approved by the Better Work organization, the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor and the Uztuqimachiliksanoat Association on the implementation of international BCI standards.

To introduce international standards into practice and mutual exchange of experience, the issue of creating a National Advisory Council for implementing Better Cotton standards under the National Commission was discussed and supported.

The participants heard and discussed the reports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on combating human trafficking, leaders of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, and representatives of regional commissions on combating forced labor.

Members of the commission, representatives of responsible ministries and agencies, non-governmental non-profit organizations, and media workers participated in the meeting.
