Tashkent hosted a forum as part of the International Exhibition “UzCharmExpo – Shoes Star – Eurasia 2023”.
The event, organized in cooperation with the Uzcharmsanoat Association and the international organization Shoes Star with the support of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was attended by local and foreign businesspeople.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev, Chairman of the Uzcharmsanoat Association Fakhriddin Boboyev, President of the Confederation of National Associations of Tanners and Dressers of the European Community (COTANCE) Manuel Rios and others noted that the efforts made towards the development of the leather and footwear industry, create great opportunities for manufacturers.
“In 2022, investments of $296 million were spent in the leather and footwear industry of the country as part of more than 300 projects, and 130 projects were launched. In 2023, investments of $400 million and the launch of more than 200 projects are also expected. As a result, about 10,000 new jobs will be created, which will mainly employ students of vocational colleges”, Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Khodjayev said.
The exhibition is being attended by representatives of business circles from the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Egypt, Türkiye, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, China, South Africa, and among its guests of honor are the International Council of Tanners, the International Fur Federation, the Confederation of National Associations of Tanners and Dressers of the European Community.
“Thanks to the support and attention of the President to the development of our industry, the presence of a large resource base and a favorable investment environment, this industry is developing at a rapid pace”, the Chairman of the Uzcharmsanoat Association Mr. Boboyev said. – There are about 2,000 enterprises in the system. They have created over 60,000 jobs. I can say with confidence that this exhibition will contribute to the expansion of cooperation between domestic enterprises and foreign companies, the conclusion of mutually beneficial agreements and an increase in the volume of exports of products.
