On May 30, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, met with the Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), Salim AlMalik.

It was underscored that with the approval of Samarkand as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2025, a series of significant events are on the horizon. These events are strategically designed to bolster cultural cooperation with the countries of Islamic civilization.

As a result of the meeting, proposals were enthusiastically put forward to hold a second international conference of Islamic scientists in 2025 on “The role of Imam al-Bukhari in the history of mankind, his invaluable legacy on the path of development of science” and to host a meeting of the Cultural Heritage Committee of the EU Member States in ICESCO.

“We can do many things with you in education, science, and culture. I hope our bilateral meetings will be held more often, and each of our dialogues will be productive and rich in results”, said Mr. Ozodbek Nazarbekov.
