Tashkent hosted the opening ceremony of the XIV International Chess Tournament dedicated to the memory of the first grandmaster of Uzbekistan Georgy Agzamov.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Minister of Tourism and Sports, Chairman of Uzbekistan Chess Federation Aziz Abdukhakimov addressed the event.

The world champion Rustam Kasimjanov also attended the event, who remembered G. Agzamov with great warmth.

About 160 chess players from 12 countries are taking part in the tournament.
