The International Al Beruniy Chemistry Olympiad has kicked off in Khiva.
130 students from 16 countries, including Russia, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, India, Vietnam, Algeria, Brazil, and Belarus, are participating in this Olympiad, organized by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.
The jury included academicians, professors, teachers, and experienced specialists from Uzbekistan and foreign countries. Professor Johann Plank, a member of the German Chemical Society, who worked for many years as Director of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich, was invited to the Olympiad as an honorary guest. He is one of the most prominent scientists in chemistry, a professor at the Technische Universität München Asia in Singapore, and an honorary member of such scientific associations as the German Chemical Society and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
At the Olympiad, the knowledge and potential of the participants will be assessed through written and practical laboratory work.
This Olympiad will serve for the national team of Uzbekistan in chemistry as the next preparatory stage for the International Chemistry Olympiad, which will be held in Switzerland on July 16-25 this year.
