Inter-parliamentary relations with Pakistan to be strengthened

A delegation led by the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan N. Ismailov paid an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the visit, meetings were held with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the Chairman of the Senate, Yousuf Raza Gillani, as well as with the leadership of the Punjab province.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that Uzbekistan is a reliable partner and highly praised the reforms being carried out in the country.

According to Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the launch of flights on the Tashkent – Islamabad – Tashkent and Tashkent – Lahore – Tashkent routes, initiated by the Leader of Uzbekistan, provides significant convenience for the people of both countries, especially for the business communities.

At a meeting with the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Yousuf Raza Gillani, it was noted with satisfaction that relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan have reached a new level in recent years, thanks to the constructive and open foreign policies initiated by the heads of state.

The delegation also met with the Acting Speaker of the Punjab Provincial Assembly Iqbal Channar. During the talks, both sides expressed their readiness to intensify inter-parliamentary ties at the interregional level.

As part of the visit, the first meeting of the friendship groups of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held. Discussions focused on the role of parliaments in ensuring the implementation of high-level agreements, cooperation in the transport, logistics, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as well as the development of plans. The need to strengthen the activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups and continue the exchange of mutual visits was emphasized.
