This inter-parliamentary group was established by resolution of the Council of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and comprises seven deputies. Its purpose is to foster inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and to strengthen the legal and legislative framework governing bilateral relations.

At the meeting, chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber and head of the group, M. It was noted that the foreign ministers of the two countries, in the presence of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, signed a protocol on the entry into force of the Treaty on Allied Relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and exchanged instruments of ratification.

Additionally, during a solemn ceremony attended by the leaders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, a Friendship Monument was unveiled at the junction of the state borders of the three countries – marking the beginning of a new era and a new stage in the relations among the brotherly nations.

The meeting also reviewed prospects for further development of cooperation between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in political, economic, cultural, and social spheres. The main areas of activity for the inter-parliamentary group were defined as sharing experiences in legislative work, strengthening friendly ties, and exercising parliamentary oversight over the implementation of the goals outlined in the roadmaps adopted to realize the agreements reached at the highest levels.
