Institute of Islamic Civilization of Malaysia to establish cooperation with Uzbekistan

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov has held talks with the Director of the Institute of Islamic Civilization of Malaysia Fariza Sham, via videoconference.

The Malaysian side was informed about measures taken in Uzbekistan to further improve the education system, ensure religious freedom and tolerance, provide comprehensive support to youth, as well as activities of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Center for Islamic Civilization and Imam Bukhari International Research Center. It was emphasized that the Government of Uzbekistan focuses on the correct perception and understanding of the religion of Islam.

In turn, Fariza Sham expressed interest in establishing cooperation with religious research centers of Uzbekistan, conducting joint conferences, workshops and researches on ancient manuscripts stored in Uzbekistan, as well as organizing advanced training courses for faculty and student exchange, researching the enlightened Islam.

It was proposed to organize a videoconference with the Center for Islamic Civilization leadership to develop specific mechanisms for mutually beneficial cooperation with joint researches, conferences and workshops, as well as the study of ancient manuscripts.

Following the event, an agreement was reached to work out the signing of a cooperation agreement between the scientific-religious centers of the two countries, organize a joint virtual workshop on “The Great scholars of Islamic civilization” in April 2021, as well as the visit of the leadership of the Institute of Islamic Civilization of Malaysia to Uzbekistan in the post-pandemic period.
