11:18 / 2024-03-12

The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change organized an event to highlight the creative work of independent environmental activists, reflecting the ideas of upcycling and the concept of responsible consumption.

It was attended by representatives of the Association of Volunteers of Uzbekistan, creative environmental activists, and the President of ClimateScience, Michael Bäcklund.

Representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change introduced the “Program for involving youth in the climate agenda”.

“Environmental education and upbringing are important to ensure harmony between nature and society”, says Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov. “Involving young people in developing and implementing all programs is central to our activities, because young people are the driving force of change, and their enthusiasm, activity and creativity are an important key to building a stable future”.

At the event, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and the Association of Volunteers of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement projects provided for in the Strategy for Working with Youth. This Strategy includes the “Youth Ambassadors for Ecology” program, within which active young leaders who are developing territorial maps of environmental problems with the support of the Youth Council under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change are selected from all regions of Uzbekistan using the “open call” method.

It was also noted that work is being carried out to ensure the possibility of using the educational platform ClimateScience.org in the Uzbek and Karakalpak languages, which includes courses, video content, and other interesting information on issues related to climate change.
