Indo-Islamic Calligraphy presented in Tashkent

Tashkent hosts an exhibition timed to Indo-Islamic Calligraphy.

The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations Vinay Prabhakar Sahasrabuddhe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan Manish Prabhat, Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri Center for Indian Culture in Tashkent Chander Shekhar.

105 artworks by great masters of Herat School of Calligraphy, which differs from other schools in its elegance and subtlety of writing were presented at the exhibition. Visitors enjoyed samples of calligraphy in several stylistic directions. Most of them came from different parts of India in the XV-XIX centuries.

The exhibition will serve to further develop cultural ties between India and Uzbekistan.
