At the videoconference chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the accelerated development of the country’s tourism potential, it was noted that in recent years 5 new private airlines have been created in Uzbekistan, and the fleet has increased to 44 units.

Due to the transition of the Samarkand Airport to the “fifth heaven” mode last year, the number of weekly flights increased from 46 to 78, and the number of passengers – from 6,500 to 10,000.

However, there is a shortage of domestic flights. There is a need for 68 additional trains per week and 350 new cars.

There are not enough buses for tourists in Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Namangan and Surkhandarya regions.

In this regard, the leaders of civil aviation are instructed to:

– put into operation an additional 20 modern aircraft and increase the domestic fleet to 64 units by the end of the year;

– increase the number of flights from the current 461 to 700 per week, and the annual passenger traffic – up to 7.5 million;

– from May 1, open regular flights on the routes Fergana – Urgench, Fergana – Termez, Fergana – Bukhara, Fergana – Samarkand, Termez – Nukus, Samarkand – Urgench, Bukhara – Urgench.

At the same time, subsidies will be provided for 25 percent of the cost of air tickets, for which 60 billion UZS will be allocated.

It was noted that the total number of domestic flights should be doubled to 100.
