When I started school, I became interested in learning foreign languages. My desire to learn more and study England’s history, culture, economy, and factors of development increased.
I am a first-year student of the Academic Lyceum at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. During the winter holidays, ten students visited the UK. The goal was to study English grammar and get acquainted with England’s history, culture, tradition, education system, and tourism potential.
I would like to share my impressions of visiting London.
Public Transport
London has an excellent public transport system. Double-decker buses, underground, and trains arrive on time in accordance with the established schedule. There are few private cars on the streets because it is more convenient to use public transport. The streets are clean, well-maintained, a little narrow, but this preserves their historicity. Traffic rules are strictly observed.
Special mention should be made about the London Underground. The world’s first underground was built in London in 1863. The line, which was 3.6 kilometers long, connected Farringdon Street with Paddington Railway Station. Underground transport impresses with its speed and safety.
Nature
We visited London, Norwich, Cambridge and Manchester. Nature is beautiful and unique in every city. There are magnificent places to relax, gardens, and rich and unique flora and fauna everywhere. These cities are home to more than 15 species of birds. Almost every tree has its own story. I was especially impressed by the gardens of London.
Education
As part of the trip, we participated in two-week training sessions organized in Norwich, one of the ancient cities of the UK. At the Flying Classroom training center, classes are taught by teachers of the highest category. Here, they study practical methods of increasing knowledge and developing language skills and new methods of English grammar. Students from Japan, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, and Australia studied with us.
The education system in England is unique and has a deep history. Education is compulsory for all citizens from 5 to 16 years of age. A quality standard has been introduced, and there are free and private sectors.
We talked with our peers in class about our countries’ economy, tourism potential, and development directions. Competitions were organized. In my report, I spoke about the hospitality of Uzbekistan people, tourist routes, and the famous Uzbek dish – pilaf.
All the sights left a great impression.
My dream to visit the UK came true. I am grateful to the Head of state for the opportunities for young people. In the future, I will try to contribute to the country’s development. I can proudly say that I am the son of Uzbekistan. I will serve my country regardless of what field I work in.
