Important norms on human rights are introduced to the renewed Constitution

Amendments and additions to the Constitution serve as a solid legal basis for ensuring the continuity of the reforms being carried out in New Uzbekistan, each new norm is aimed at strengthening guarantees for the protection of human rights and freedoms.

In particular, the number of human rights norms in the amended Constitution has almost tripled.

These are:

– human rights and freedoms belong to everyone from birth;

– human honor and dignity are inviolable;

– human rights and freedoms act directly;

– no one can be assigned a duty that is not established by law without his consent;

– measures of legal influence on a person applied by state bodies should be based on the principle of proportionality and be sufficient to achieve the goals provided for by laws;

– everyone has the right to the protection of their data;

– everyone who is legally located on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan has the right to free movement across the country, the choice of place of stay and residence, except for restrictions established by law;

– everyone has the right to the inviolability of the home;

– each person has the right to protect his rights and freedoms by all means not prohibited by law;

– a person’s criminal record and the resulting legal consequences cannot be grounds for restricting the rights of his relatives.
