Implementation of law to serve for development

A gathering has taken place in Jizzakh on results of monitoring and analysis work on the implementation of the law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on free economic zones.The event was held in the conference hall of the “Jizzakh” free economic zone by the International Relations and Inter-parliamentary Ties Committee of the Legislative Assembly of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the development strategy centre and the hokimiyat (governorate) of the region.
The managers of enterprises working in the free economic zone, representatives of the wide public and entrepreneurs attended the gathering.
A Presidential decree dated 26 October 2016 “On additional measures to step up and expand the work of free economic zones” and the 2017-2021 Action Strategy on five priority areas of the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan are important programme documents in ensuring the implementation of the law on free economic zones.
A deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Oliy Majlis, A.Jalilov; the director of the development strategy centre, A.Burkhonov; and others said that tax and customs privileges had been given to entrepreneurs working in the free economic zone and that the necessary engineering infrastructure facilities had been built for industrial production in the economic zone.
Roads in the economic zone have been repaired, and water and gas distribution networks have been created. Areas of land have been allocated in a timely manner for the construction of factories.
To date 19 projects have been implemented in the free economic zone, including 15 projects with foreign investments. As a result of the implementation of these projects, 1 thousand 324 new jobs have been created. 90 per cent of the employees working in the economic zone are young people.
It was said that enterprises being created in the “Jizzakh” free economic zone were a significant contribution to economic growth and the creation of new jobs in the region.
Work being carried out as part of the implementation of the law on free economic zones was analysed critically.
