In recent years, the Andijan region has undertaken large-scale efforts to develop tourism. As a result, in 2024, the region was visited by nearly 500,000 foreign and over 1.65 million domestic tourists.
To develop the infrastructure of tourist sites and create conditions for travelers’ accommodation and recreation, an inventory of the most visited historical places and landmarks was conducted, along with a series of construction and renovation works.
The Toshota area, located in the mountainous territory of Khodjaabad district bordering the Kyrgyz Republic and popularly known as the village of Imomota, is also developing actively.
In the village, 70 guesthouses have been built and put into operation, designed to simultaneously accommodate more than a thousand tourists and pilgrims. Modern attractions have been installed, and dozens of shops and service points are in operation. A suspension bridge has been stretched between two mountain peaks.
As a result, in 2024, the area was visited by 16,000 foreign and 81,000 domestic tourists. It is anticipated that the tourist flow will increase 2.5 times this year.
A series of events was organized in connection with granting official tourist status to this village.
During one of the events, guests visited a new guesthouse built by entrepreneur Valijon Yoqubov and familiarized themselves with the amenities created there.
In the square near the “Imom ota” mausoleum, a domestic tourism fair was held, where more than 20 travel companies presented information about their activities.
“The granting of tourist village status to this area contributes to the increase of tourist flow and the development of domestic tourism in the region”, said Azizbek Kuchkarov, manager of the Mandarin Tour. “Of course, this requires improving the quality of services provided, and we are working on that”.
The event participants also showed great interest in the exhibition of handicraft products, paintings by local artists, and the official ceremony of awarding the certificate confirming Imomota’s status as a tourist village.
Deputy Hokim of Andijan region, Davronbek Sattorov, and Hokim of Khodjaabad district, Jamshid Bozorboyev, congratulated the residents.
Advisor to the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Feruz Dodiyev, solemnly handed over the certificate to the district hokim.
