At the Dialogue of Declarations forum, held today in Tashkent, Imam Mohamed Magid, head of the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (United States), expressed his sincere gratitude to the government of Uzbekistan for its traditionally warm hospitality.
He noted that Uzbekistan is a country with a rich historical heritage and a vivid example of the harmonious coexistence of various religions. According to him, mosques, churches, and synagogues have coexisted peacefully here for centuries, reflecting a unique atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect.
Developing this idea, the imam emphasized that Uzbekistan is rightfully considered the “pearl of Islamic civilization”. It was on this land that the conditions for creativity and spiritual development were formed, where outstanding theologians and scholars worked, and where fundamental scientific works were created. A special place in this heritage belongs to the contributions of such eminent thinkers as Imam al-Bukhari, Al Hakim At-Termizi, and others.
In conclusion, Mohamed Magid highlighted the modern role of Uzbekistan as a center of religious tourism. Today, he noted, many American Muslims visit the country to see its holy sites and also actively participate in international conferences and academic meetings together with Uzbek specialists.
The Forum is organized by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS) together with the American NGO Love Your Neighbor Community (LYNC), with the support of the Committee on Religious Affairs, the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Hokimiyat of Samarkand region.
It brings together about 50 leading scholars of religion, theologians, experts, and high-level officials from 15 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and the Central Asian states.
