Uzbekistan’s Greco-Roman wrestling master Ilhom Bahromov has earned the gold medal of the Second Youth Olympics.

The constant attention being paid under the leadership of President Islam Karimov to the promotion of sports has been bearing its remarkable results. Athletes of our country achieve victories at the Olympic and Asian Games, world and continental championships, proving thus they are inferior to no one in anything. It is manifest also in the performance of our young athletes at the Second Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing.

Ilhom Bahromov, taking part in the Greco-Roman wrestling competitions in the weight category of up to 50 kilograms, on the way to the final overwhelmed Houssam Bounasri from Algeria, Calebe Ferreira Correa from Brazil, and the representative of the Marshall Islands Kaiser Muller. In the decisive fight, our wrestler defeated Jabbar Najafov from Azerbaijan, 3-1, and rose to the highest podium of honor.

In honor of our athlete, the state flag of our country was raised and the anthem of our Motherland was aired.
