The International Institute for Central Asia hosted a meeting with the Director of the Department of Russian-Central Asian Studies at Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) Qiang Xiaoyun.
The parties exchanged views on priority areas for strengthening partnerships, including signing a Cooperation Agreement and holding joint conferences, roundtable discussions, and workshops.
Dr. Qiang briefly described her team’s activities and underlined that the Academy comprises 6 institutes and 11 research centers.
SIIS is one of the most reputable think tanks in China. It researches essential issues of international politics, economics, and security.
The interlocutor also stressed that China is following with great interest the reforms in Uzbekistan’s gender policy, where women and their rights are carefully protected by law.
Following the meeting, the head of the Department confessed her special sympathy for Uzbekistan and its people, noting that she had visited Uzbekistan five times in recent years and established close ties with its partners and other experts.
