16:58 / 2024-04-06

IICA Director Javlon Vakhabov held a videoconference with the Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS) Yerkin Tukumov.

The strategic partnership and alliance between IICA and KazISS have seen remarkable progress. Their intensive cooperation in trade and investment, transport communications, and industrial cooperation along the border regions have led to regular high-level meetings. The leaders have set a goal to increase trade turnover from $4.4 billion to $10 billion, demonstrating their commitment to further strengthening the partnership.

At the meeting, the importance of interaction between IICA and KazISS in conducting joint activities on key aspects of bilateral and regional development within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement between the institutions signed on December 2, 2021, in Astana was also emphasized.

In addition, the parties exchanged views on the upcoming 7th Central Asian Expert Forum in Kazakhstan. This conference has been held annually since 2018 by the leading analytical institutes of the region’s countries in cooperation with the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.

Following the meeting, the heads of the analytical centers confirmed their readiness to deepen research cooperation and develop a comprehensive program between IICA and KazISS for 2024, including joint events, organization of roundtable discussions, and exchange of experience.
