An International Scientific-Practical Conference on “The Role of Heydar Aliyev in the Development of Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan” on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev’s birth was held at the International Institute for Central Asia.

The conference was organized by the International Institute for Central Asia, the Institute of Strategic and Regional Studies, and the Azerbaijan Cultural Center named after Heydar Aliyev.

The event was attended by representatives of parliaments, diplomatic structures, and scientific community of the two countries, Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Friendship Societies, Writers’ Union, teachers and students of leading higher education institutions of the two countries.

The event is aimed at discussing the most important historical events related to the activities of Heydar Aliyev and his invaluable role in the formation and strengthening of friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

Various aspects of relations between the two countries, including the activities of Heydar Aliyev and Sharof Rashidov to bring cultural and economic cooperation closer in various periods, as well as the contribution of current Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev to the development of constructive dialogue during the years of independent development, were considered.

Experts will assess the development of special relations in recent years, modern challenges and problems faced by the two countries, and presentations and discussions of new ideas and projects that contribute to strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
