IICA hosts a meeting with the Programme Director of the Valdai Discussion Club

On 23 April 2021, a meeting with Timofei Bordachev, Programme Director of the Valdai Discussion Club, took place at the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA).

The participants exchanged views on promising areas of Uzbekistan – Russian cooperation, positive trends in regional partnership in Central Asia.

Director of the International Institute for Central Asia Anvar Nasirov emphasized that Uzbekistan traditionally views Russia as a reliable partner in all areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Investment cooperation is actively developing. The volume of attracted Russian investments has reached about $10 billion. As of the beginning of 2021, 2,093 enterprises with the participation of the Russian side are operating in Uzbekistan. Interregional and humanitarian exchanges are actively expanding.

Mr. Timofei Bordachev noted that Uzbekistan is a time-tested partner of Russia. A positive assessment was given to the initiative of Uzbekistan to intensify interregional interaction between Central and South Asia.

The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest. An agreement was reached to establish a regular dialogue for exchanging views on the regional situation.
