International Institute for Central Asia hosted a meeting with the Director General of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Representative Office in Uzbekistan, Jun Takahashi.
The meeting participants exchanged views on the prospects for establishing interaction between IICA and JETRO, possible areas of cooperation of mutual interest, including the involvement of partners from the Central Asian region.
Mr. Jun Takahashi got acquainted with the key tasks set for the Institute, current areas of activity, and events held jointly with foreign partners.
The JETRO Director General positively noted the level of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan, which has significantly intensified after the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan in December 2019.
High interest of Japanese business representatives in further deepening investment cooperation with Uzbekistan, as well as developing interaction in the energy, transport and communication areas was noted.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue to determine cooperation areas.
