Director of the International Institute for Central Asia, Javlon Vakhabov, met with the U.S. delegation that arrived in Uzbekistan, led by the President of the Utah State Senate, Stuart Adams, and representatives of the state’s investment companies and The Stirling Foundation.
Stuart Adams highly appreciated the large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in all government areas, active efforts to create jobs and improve the population’s well-being. He noted that the political determination of the Head of state in carrying out reforms and the broad support of the Uzbekistan people play a key role in ensuring the country’s sustainable development. For Utah, it is in demand to intensify economic ties with Uzbekistan, cooperation in education, healthcare, information and communication technologies and industrial cooperation.
President and Board Director for The Stirling Foundation Miles Hansen informed about the foundation’s activities and expressed his readiness to support Uzbekistan in implementing several projects, such as teaching English in the country’s universities, allocating educational grants for studying in the United States, delivering medicines to the Aral Sea region, and financing entrepreneurship in IT.
Following the meeting, the American delegation expressed its desire to assist IICA in developing partnerships with Brigham Young University and other research institutions in the State of Utah, organizing joint roundtable discussions and conferences.
