Ichan-Kala is a favorite place of tourists
12:21 / 2021-09-15

A presentation of the album book from the cycle “Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan”, dedicated to Ichan-Kala State Museum-Reserve was held within the framework of the Cultural Legacy Week.

Ichan-Kala is a large and unique architectural monument in Central Asia. It is the inner part of the city of Khiva (Shakhristan), protected from Dishan-Kala by crenelated walls. From the height of the Khiva rabat, Dishan-Kala looks like a high fortress. There are several gates leading to Ichan-Kala (Bogcha darvoza, Polvon darvoza, Tosh darvoza, Ota darvoza).

The Ichan-Kala complex is a unique example of Khorezm folk architecture. It won the love and recognition of tourists from all over the world.

Wood carving, stone carving, ganch carving and other methods of folk decorative art are used in all buildings and structures of the complex. The Ichan-Kala ensemble was taken under state protection and turned into a museum (1961). Since 1990, it has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The new album book tells about Ichan-Kala.
