At the meeting, CEO of the company in Uzbekistan Forrest Liu noted the importance of marking the new year as the Year of Science, Enlightenment and Digital Economy Development.

Huawei has been operating in Uzbekistan for 20 years. Over the years, large-scale activities have been implemented to introduce information and communication technologies in the country. In 2019, the company signed memorandums on projects to digitalize the healthcare system, training, ensure public safety and expand the coverage of networks of local telecom operators. So, a project was launched to equip call centers of emergency medical services with modern ICT solutions and provide cars based on the latest medical equipment and ICT. Together with telecom operators, public testing of 5G technologies was carried out, as well as a pilot project on the introduction of electronic education was presented.

The company also outlined a number of projects for 2020, the implementation of which will serve to improve and accelerate the digitalization of Uzbekistan.

It was noted that the company plans to support the sustainable development of Uzbekistan population. It has launched a global initiative Tech4All, within the framework of which Huawei works with a wide range of organizations to reduce the digital divide, develop new applications for different communities and spread digital skills, as well as support people in the regions affected by climate change. This year, the company intends, together with UNDP, to launch a project on landscaping the bottom of the Aral Sea, thereby contributing to the stable future of the region.
