Here is what the Chief Researcher of the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies Mirkhamid Turayev said about this:
– Each city or district has an opportunity for economic development, – says Mr. Turayev. – The reforms carried out by the government are of great importance in this process. The Action Strategy for the five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021, the legal basis for large-scale reforms in our country, has become an essential mechanism for the continuous development of regions over the past six years. This period can be called a qualitatively new stage in developing the country and its regions. Macroeconomic stability has been strengthened, high economic growth rates are being ensured, and the efficiency and competitiveness of industries have increased due to their modernization and diversification.
In Tashkent, in the process of socio-economic transformations that took place as part of the implementation of the Strategy, significant positive results have been achieved. The consistent implementation of the planned practical measures in 2017-2022 ensured high economic growth rates. In particular, the gross regional product increased by 1.7 times, industrial production increased by 1.6 times, retail trade volumes – 1.65 times, construction – 2.8 times, spent investments – 2.4 times, exports – 1.8 times. Food, electrical, chemical, building materials, metallurgical, pharmaceutical, and textile industries, trade, finance, transport, communications and informatization, tourism, construction, and real estate, were in the lead among sectors.
In the capital, one of the priority tasks is to ensure stable growth rates through the introduction of energy-saving technologies and the efficient use of renewable energy sources. Implementing the tasks and instructions identified in this direction in the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 will open a wide path for further development of Tashkent’s economy.
