Honoring the Young Olympians
Our young athletes have upheld the honor of the Motherland in a proper manner at the Second Youth Olympic Games in the Chinese city of Nanjing on 16-28 August this year. The triumphant youth team comprised also young people from the Tashkent Region.
An official ceremony has taken place in the city of Chirchik to honor the participants of the Youth Olympics. It was particularly stressed during the event that constant attention is being paid under the leadership of President Islam Karimov to the development of sports as one of the most critical means in nurturing a physically and spiritually advanced younger generation, and thus extensive opportunities are being created to boost physical cultural and sports.
“We are all proud that the athletes of our province have also been successful in Nanjing Olympics,” Hurshid Tashpulatov, head of regional department for culture and sports, said. “And now our objective is to ensure a good participation of our sportspeople in the 31st Summer Olympics due in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro in 2016.”
“During that prestigious competition, we supported our athletes, and their triumphs became a well-deserved present to the greatest and dearest holiday – the 23rd anniversary of the independence of our Motherland,” says Oleg Pukhnaty. “I am confident that my son Artem and the thousands of talented athletes will make even greater achievements in the international arena.”
At the official ceremony, the young athletes have been handed memorable gifts.
Hokim (Governor) of Tashkent Region A.Usmanov delivered a speech at the occasion.
