In the days of Eid al-Adha, such good qualities of Uzbek people as care and attention, mutual assistance and support show themselves again.

In the days of Eid al-Adha, such good qualities of Uzbek people as care and attention, mutual assistance and support show themselves again.

In prayers said in mosques, Uzbek people paid a tribute of respect to the memory of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov.

Suras from the Koran were recited.

In the years of independence under the leadership of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, national and religious values of the Uzbek people were restored. Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays are celebrated freely.

In accordance with a resolution by the Acting President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sh.Mirziyoyev, “On celebrating Eid al-Adha”, dated 9 September this year, all the necessary measures have been taken to conduct this holiday at a high organizational level.

In preparations for the holiday in Yashnaobod District of the capital city, streets and neighbourhood places were improved, and such places as pilgrimage sites, cemeteries, mosques and historical monuments were cleaned.

Charity acts by the district section of the Nuroniy foundation and the Kamolot public youth movement showed such qualities characteristic of the Uzbek people as humaneness, the provision of care for one’s neighbour and respect for elders. Representatives of the wider public visited low-income families and people of advanced age and gave them material and moral support. Young people helped elders with housework.

On the occasion of the holiday, visits were arranged to historical and holy places. These measures help to acquaint people, especially young people, with noble work in progress on preserving the rich spiritual heritage of the Uzbek people and on bringing up the younger generation in the spirit of love for the Motherland and respect for national values.

Meetings between two generations and various spiritual enlightenment events held in neighbourhoods were aimed at expanding young people’s knowledge and horizons and their further activeness in carrying out creative work in the country.

“Eid al-Adha is a holiday of good deeds. Before the holiday, during improvement work in our neighbourhood, streets and squares, territories adjacent to apartment houses and yards were tidied up,” says Mavjuda Ashrafkhonova, resident of the Aviasozlar neighbourhood of Yashnaobod District.

Eid al-Adha has also been celebrated widely in Samarqand Region. In all its towns and villages, the necessary measures have been taken to make sure that the holiday is celebrated at a high organizational level.

Thousands of Uzbeks visited the resting place of the First President Islam Karimov.

“Inhabitants of our region said prayers with words of gratitude for these peaceful and calm days. In our prayers, we again recalled the bright memory of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov. We prayed to God that peace and calm always reign in our country,” says the deputy chairman of the Uzbekistan Muslims Directorate in Samarqand Region, Zayniddin Eshonqulov.

Eid al-Adha was also celebrated at a high level in Farghona Region.

Special attention being paid in our country to the restoration and development of national and religious values help to further strengthen an atmosphere of mutual assistance, generosity and accord in society. On the initiative of the country’s First President, the mausoleums of Ahmad Farghoni and Burhoniddin Marghiloni and the Pirsiddiq complex were restored. And birth anniversaries of great ancestors of Uzbek people were widely celebrated.

“Generosity and magnanimity characteristic of our people brightly show themselves in celebrations of Eid al-Adha. On the eve of the holiday, people of neighbourhoods and factories carried out cleaning and improvement work. Representatives of state and public organizations are giving material help and moral support to low-income families and those without a breadwinner, people with disabilities and lone elders. In neighbourhoods, commemoration events and meetings of three generations are taking place. An important guidance document for action in this area is a resolution by the Acting President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sh.Mirziyoyev, `On celebrating Eid al-Adha’, dated 9 September this year,” says the chairman of the regional department of the Nuroniy foundation, Tolvoldi Haydarov.

Eid al-Adha events also took place in Surhondaryo Region in an atmosphere of generosity and unity.

In the run-up to the sacred holiday, the territories of historical monuments, holy places, mosques and cemeteries were improved. Measures were taken to ensure traffic and fire safety on streets and roads, in neighbourhood places and people’s big gathering places. Special attention was paid to the provision of care to low-income families, lone elders and people suffering from illnesses. Our people’s national values were further strengthened.

“We will never forget that under the leadership of the First President of our country, Islam Karimov, the tradition of widely celebrating Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha was restored. A number of public organizations, entrepreneurs and farmers are displaying generosity that is characteristic of our people and are giving material support to orphanages and low-income families. Visits have been arranged to war and labour veterans and people of advanced age,” says the deputy chairman of the regional department of the Mahalla public charity foundation, Orziqul Soatov.

Events of Eid al-Adha being conducted throughout Uzbekistan help further to strengthen mutual respect, care, unity and accord in the multi-ethnic Uzbek nation.
