On January 15, at the meeting of the Scientific Coordination Council at the National Centre for Human Rights, the scientific and academic community of the country discussed the most important international events in human rights planned for this year, as well as preparations for them.
Director of the National Centre for Human Rights, Academician Akmal Saidov, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Uligbek Lapasov, Permanent Delegation of Uzbekistan to UNESCO Umid Shadiev noted that the President of the country put forward major international initiatives, including in human rights at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
This year will mark the 10th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training. By a joint resolution of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, a National Action Plan and a roadmap were adopted to implement the provisions of this declaration. This year, at the initiative of the President, it is planned to hold the Global Forum “Human Rights Education”.
It was emphasized that the forum would become a good platform for the exchange of new ideas and best practices in human rights education, which has been developed in Uzbekistan today.
The meeting of the council was attended by professors of higher education institutions, representatives of academic and civil society institutions.
