History of Bukhara through the eyes of foreign scientists

Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Asia-Africa Institute at Hamburg University (Germany) held an online workshop on the “History and Culture of the Zerafshan Region”.

It was attended by holders of international scholarships and scientists of the center, representatives of the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) of the OIC, scientists from the Institute of Islamic Civilization of the National University of Malaysia and Samarkand State University, researchers from several scientific institutions of Uzbekistan, China and Kazakhstan.

The report of the doctor of the University of Paris-Sorbonne-Panthéon Rocco Rante on the research of the development of Bukhara in the early stages of the birth of Islam was heard. The main part of the scientist’s report was devoted to the study of the history of Bukhara region based on the new archaeological discoveries and aspects related to the emergence of Islam in this territory.

The scientist emphasized that with the birth of Islam in the history of the region, gradual cultural transformations took place. During this period, the existing traditions of urban planning were improved, the construction of strong fortresses and citadels, the creation of new cities began.
