The Uzbekistan national team has achieved a historic result at the U17 World Wrestling Championships currently taking place in Greece.

Uzbekistan’s athlete Shohista Shonazarova, competing in the -40 kg weight category, claimed a decisive victory over Japan’s An Nakanishi with a score of 11:0 in the gold medal match. Sh. Shonazarova is the first Uzbekistan female wrestler to become a world champion in this age category.

In the women’s wrestling competition, the Uzbekistan team won both a gold and a silver medal.

Today, in the freestyle wrestling final, Uzbekistan’s wrestler Abdumalik Jaloliddinov (-55 kg) will face Japan’s Jinnosuke Okonogi.
