Uzbekistan cultivates different varieties of pomegranate. People of Fergana, Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions are engaged mainly in pomegranate breeding.

Kitab district of Kashkadarya region specializes in gardening. Especially Varganza pomegranates are famous to the whole world. They are very juicy and have a peculiar taste. In these autumn days, when many fruits and vegetables ripened, gathering of Varganza pomegranates began.

– Our pomegranate gardens spread over 2.5 hectares, – says Azamat Bedona Anorzorlari farm manager Azamat Khalilov. – Pomegranate is a perennial plant. Annually we collect 20-25 tons of harvest. We work all year with the whole family. There are also 10 seasonal workers. If to carry out all agrotechnical activities in a timely manner, a good harvest and profit can be gotten. It requires patience and endurance. Before we faced crop storage problem. This year we have built a storage. Now we have all conditions for maintaining the quality of products for a long time.

Villagers have years of experience in growing pomegranate. They masterfully carry out all processes from harvesting seedlings to growing products. Nature itself helps them in this. Varganza, Shatri, Anorzor villages are located near the mountains, near the Kashkadarya river. The villages are also rich in healing springs. Therefore, probably, the local fruits are distinguished by their excellent taste and quality.

Pomegranates grown by villagers are sent not only to the domestic market, but also for export.
