Heads of CIS statistical offices gather in Tashkent

Tashkent hosts the Second International Statistical Forum of the CIS “New Technologies and Data Sources”.

The event, organized by the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Executive and Interstate Statistical Committees of the CIS, is attended by experts from international organizations, including the Statistics Department​ of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) of the UN and heads of statistical agencies from almost 20 countries.

Particular attention is paid to improving the efficiency of the relevant agencies in meeting users’ demands and needs and publishing statistical data based on the principles of openness, relevance, and transparency.

Presentations are held to demonstrate the experience of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, and Tajikistan in the ​​information management and integration of information resources at the national level.

The participants are considering modern geographic information systems, technologies for rapid information analysis and Business Intelligence, quality models GSBPM, GSIM, GAMSO, NQAF, and the international standard for exchanging meta-information – SDMX.

Representatives of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan exchanged experiences in big and administrative data, creating a legal and organizational basis for the use of statistics and the effective use of technologies for collecting and exchanging information. Issues related to preparations for the population census up to 2030 were discussed.

The 70th meeting of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of the CIS Member States was held as part of the forum.
