Head of the CIS Observer Mission arrives in Tashkent

Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev, who heads the Mission of observers from the Commonwealth in the presidential elections in Uzbekistan, has arrived in Tashkent.

At the end of September, a delegation of long-term observers of the CIS Mission led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Leonid Anfimov arrived in Tashkent and the Mission headquarters was established to coordinate the activities of CIS observers.

According to the Interim Report of the CIS Observer Mission on the progress of observing the preparation of the presidential elections in Uzbekistan, published on October 18, 162 CIS observers representing Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member States, Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, as well as the Executive Committee of the CIS submitted for accreditation.

During long-term observation, the members of the Mission got acquainted with the work of district and precinct election commissions in Andijan, Bukhara, Navoi, Namangan, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Syrdarya, Tashkent, Fergana regions and the city of Tashkent.
