Namangan hosted International Champions League Tournament in hand-to-hand combat.

It was attended by athletes from Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Tajikistan.

The tournament, which is included in the calendar of competitions of the Hand-to-Hand Fighting Sport International Federation, started at Navbakhor stadium with a solemn ceremony and a big concert with participation of famous artists.

There are more than 40 sections of this sport in the region. Such young athletes as Z.Alimjanova, A.Jurakhanov, Sh.Nazaraliyev, M.Abdullayev and B.Sharipov won the prestigious international tournaments, held in Ufa and Minsk in 2018.

Uzbekistan’s wrestler Sh.Tursunov defeated F.Akhmedjanov from Tajikistan ahead of the schedule and became winner of the tournament in weight category up to 60 kilograms. In weight category up to 65 kilograms, O.Normurodov from Kashkadarya won unconditional victory over the representative of Kazakhstan D.Kaishbekov.

Hand-to-hand Combat Championship in Namangan

In 70 kilograms weight category, Uzbekistan’s athlete M.Mamajonov defeated two-time world and European champion R.Gamidullayev from Russia. In weight category up to 55 kilograms, Asian champion A.Jurakhanov from Namangan left no chances to T.Inoyatov from Tajikistan.

At the international tournament held in Namangan, Uzbekistan national team won a confident victory in team standings for the first time.

Namangan region’s khokim Kh.Bozorov delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the tournament.
