Halal certification in Uzbekistan for unhindered access to the Malaysian market

The Uzstandard Agency and the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur are working on introduction of Halal certification system, which will ensure unhindered access and increase the country’s exports to the Malaysian market.

The diplomatic mission organized a visit of the delegation of Uzstandard Agency led by the head of the international cooperation department A.Orifboyev and the director of the SE “Republican Test and Certification Center” A.Zakirov to Malaysia on August 15-17 this year to study the country’s experience in the field of halal certification and introduction of this system in Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the visit, negotiations were held at the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), with which a Protocol on intentions on joint introduction of halal certification in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the official recognition by the Malaysian organization of Uzbekistan agency as an official authority for issuing halal certification was signed.

Within the framework of the negotiations with Global Haltech, an agreement was signed on cooperation in the sphere of halal certification in the country together with the Malaysian company and training personnel in this direction.

Negotiations were also held with the Department of Standards of Malaysia and issues were discussed on establishment of cooperation with Uzstandard Agency by signing a joint program on exchanging experience, standards, improving skills of employees and introducing halal certification in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on signing the Joint Program within the framework of the International Conference ISO Week in Geneva 2018, which will be held on September 23-28 in Geneva.
