10:16 / 2022-04-30

Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research under the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted the opening ceremony of the IFMR Green Hub platform.

First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska, EBRD Head of Uzbekistan Alkis Drakinos and others noted the practical significance of the platform for achieving sustainable development based on the principles of a green economy.

According to Mr. Norkulov, the development of a green economy is one of the most important priorities for all countries of the world. The Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 outlines measures in this direction.

“The Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research has created the Green Hub platform to analyze the situation and develop ways to achieve sustainable development based on the principles of the green economy”, said Senior Researcher at the Institute Abdusattor Abdumuminov. – Experts, scientific institutions and international financial institutions will work together on the platform. The hub is established to unite economic and environmental knowledge. It will serve as a knowledge platform for local and international experts and researchers to build a green economy.

The parties held the first national consultation on environmental and climate issues within the framework of the international meeting “Stockholm +50”.

At the event, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with UNDP, the World Bank and other international organizations, presented a draft Green Growth Strategic Framework aimed at implementing Uzbekistan’s transition plan to a green economy until 2030.
