Green energy introduced in Gijduvan
17:11 / 2026-02-13

A delegation from one of France’s leading renewable energy companies, Voltalia, led by Deputy CEO Yoni Ammar, visited Bukhara.

As part of the visit, a meeting was held with the Hokim of Bukhara region, Botir Zaripov. It was noted that Voltalia has extensive experience in the design, construction, and operation of renewable energy power generation facilities. The company is implementing investment projects in 20 countries.

Voltalia plans to implement a 400 MW hybrid power plant project in Gijduvan district of Bukhara region. The total investment will amount to $400 million. The term for the sale of electricity generated by solar and wind power plants will be 25 years, while contracts for energy storage systems will be concluded for 15 years.

According to the French company, the electricity generated in the Artemisia cluster will be enough to meet the needs of 2.5 million residents of Uzbekistan. The implementation of the green project will also help prevent approximately 598,000 tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere annually. Construction of the solar power plant and energy storage system will begin this year, while the wind power plant will be built next year.

The parties discussed organizational issues related to the project’s implementation, measures to improve the investment climate, and prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
