Greece hosts World School Chess Championships 2023

Greece hosts the World Chess Championships among schoolchildren aged 7-17 years.

539 chess players from 53 countries are taking part in the tournament. The honor of the country is defended by 8 players. Competitions are held in five age categories.

According to the Organizing Committee of the tournament, more than 1,500 spectators gather daily, and more than a million people are following competitions online.

Uzbekistan’s Biloliddin Obidov, Afruzbek Sobirov and Feruzbek Sobirov are fighting for victory in the age category up to 11 years, Abdulkodir Bakhodirov and Muhammad Yusuf Mukhsinov – in the age category up to 13 years, Umar Otakhonov – in the age category up to 15 years, Rasulbek Abdullayev – in the age category up to 17 years and Mumtozbegim Sobirova – in the age category up to 9 years old.

According to the results of 4 rounds, Afruzbek Sobirov has 2.5 points, Biloliddin Obidov, Abdulkodir Bakhodirov, Rasulbek Abdullayev and Mumtozbegim Sobirova have 2 points each, Feruzbek Sobirov and Muhammad Yusuf Mukhsinov have 1.5 points, Umar Otakhonov has one point.

The World Cup will run until April 23.
